CAIRO - 22 Aug 2017: Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit on Tuesday welcomed a statement issued by the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and Palestine after a Cairo meeting earlier this week.

The statement by the three top diplomats called for activating the Arab peace initiative for settling the Palestinian issue.

In a released statement, the AL chief highlighted the importance of inter-Arab coordination at the various levels for reaching a unified view regarding the Palestinian issue especially ahead of two visits by the United Nations secretary general and a US delegation.

Spokesman for the AL chief Mahmoud Afifi said that supporting the Palestinian stance at the current phase is a priority for the joint Arab action.
