CAIRO – 1 July 2026: Egypt has launched a new electronic consular service allowing citizens living abroad to apply online for a new issuance of a computer-generated criminal record certificate through Digital Egypt portal.
The service, introduced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, is available to Egyptians abroad who have previously obtained a computer-issued criminal record certificate.
Applicants must hold a valid Egyptian passport or national ID card to use the service.
The criminal record certificate may then be collected by a first-degree relative of the applicant or by a person authorized through an official power of attorney.
The document can be picked up from the headquarters of the General Directorate of Forensic Evidence Investigation in Cairo's Abbassia district.
The ministry said the initiative is part of its broader efforts to facilitate consular procedures for Egyptians overseas and expand the range of digital consular services.
