CAIRO - 23 June 2026: Egypt and Morocco must accelerate their economic and commercial cooperation by building on the successful outcomes of their joint diplomatic committees, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said in a Monday meeting.
Abdelatty met with Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita on the sidelines of the 165th resumed ordinary session of the Arab League Ministerial Council in Amman.
During the talks, Abdelatty highlighted the distinct historical ties connecting the two nations, emphasizing Cairo's commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors to reflect the deep fraternal relations between the two peoples.
The Egyptian foreign minister highly praised the outcomes of the first session of the Egyptian-Moroccan Coordination and Follow-up Committee.
He noted that the committee’s framework is vital to unlocking fresh commercial, trade, and investment pipelines between the two North African nations.
On regional affairs, the two diplomats exchanged views on critical Middle Eastern and African challenges, placing the Palestinian cause alongside the volatile security situations in Sudan and Libya at the forefront of their agenda.
They stressed the vital necessity of continuous bilateral coordination to support regional stability and enhance joint Arab-African mechanisms to effectively manage current security crises.
For his part, Bourita affirmed Morocco's deep pride in its historical alliance with Egypt. He reiterated Rabat's strong commitment to maintaining close diplomatic coordination on all mutual-interest files to protect shared regional interests.
