AMMAN - 22 June 2026: Egypt and Tunisia must accelerate the execution of economic agreements signed during their recent joint summit to significantly boost trade and joint investments, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty urged in a Monday bilateral meeting.

Abdelatty met with his Tunisian counterpart Mohamed Ali Nafti on the sidelines of the 165th resumed ordinary session of the Arab League Ministerial Council in Amman of Jordan.

Egypt's top diplomat praised the distinct historical ties connecting the two nations, highlighting the visible momentum in bilateral relations following the 18th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Joint Higher Committee hosted in Cairo last September.

Both ministers emphasized the necessity of building on the joint committee’s outcomes to elevate commercial cooperation.

Abdelatty stated that Egypt looks forward to active participation in the upcoming Tunisia Investment Forum, noting it serves as a critical platform to connect corporate sectors and unlock fresh investment pipelines.

On regional affairs, the two diplomats pledged to maintain continuous consultation regarding Middle Eastern challenges, placing the Palestinian cause and the Libyan stabilization process at the forefront of their shared agenda.

Abdelatty highly praised the outcomes of the Tripartite Neighboring States Mechanism ministerial meeting on Libya, which Cairo hosted on May 21.

He stressed the vital importance of convening this mechanism regularly, characterizing it as an essential framework to safeguard Libyan territorial unity, protect its national institutions, and reinforce regional stability.
