CAIRO - 22 June 2026: The exceptional relations between the U.S. and Egypt under the leadership of Presidents Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Donald Trump represent a robust partnership extending far beyond the Middle East and the Horn of Africa, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos said.

Speaking to the Middle East News Agency (MENA) following talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Monday, Boulos highlighted the deep momentum in bilateral relations, pointing to the distinct geometric alignment between the two administrations in the emerging global order.

Trump expressed this partnership clearly during the week, describing it as a deep personal bond defined by long-standing mutual respect and affection.

The institutional depth of the relationship is underscored by three bilateral summits convened between Trump and El-Sisi over the past nine months.

These included a summit in Sharm El-Sheikh last October, a second meeting in January, and a third encounter days ago on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France.

Boulos noted that Trump has held this volume of multiple meetings with only a very limited number of world leaders, a diplomatic frequency mirrored by extensive consultations between both foreign ministers and senior officials.

Addressing the Libyan political landscape, Boulos expressed a cautious but distinct optimism. For the first time in over 13 years, rival factions from eastern and western Libya are converging on critical issues.

This progress is visible on the ground through joint military maneuvers conducted two months ago and the recent ratification of a unified national budget. These solid steps align with broader efforts to unify Libyan state institutions and bring stability to a population that has suffered through nearly 15 years of conflict.

In a Sunday briefing with diplomatic correspondents, Boulos characterized his discussions with Abdelatty regarding broader regional dossiers as highly productive.

The talks focused heavily on the US-Iran negotiations, which opened positively, alongside the ongoing conflicts in Sudan and Libya.

Boulos specifically emphasized that Trump addressed the Nile dispute directly during his bilateral summit with Sisi, reaffirming that the U.S. fully understands the vital, existential importance of this issue to Egypt and the wider region.

Under direct instructions from the U.S. President, the administration is actively working toward a satisfactory resolution within the diplomatic parameters previously outlined by Trump.
