CAIRO - 15 June 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Belgian counterpart Maxim Prevot  held extensive talks covering regional security and bilateral cooperation on Monday.

Meeting on the sidelines of the Egypt-EU Partnership Council, the two ministers welcomed the newly reached agreement between the U.S. and Iran.

Abdelatty pressed for the immediate execution of the first phase of the peace plan and a swift transition to its second stage.

He underscored the necessity for the National Committee for Gaza Management to begin its operations from within the Strip. He also urged the rapid deployment of an international stability force to secure humanitarian aid and restore regional security.

Turning to cultural heritage, Abdelatty emphasized the high priority Egypt places on reclaiming Egyptian antiquities that left the country illegally.

Describing the artifacts as an inseparable part of Egypt’s civilization and history, he called for enhanced cooperation with Belgian authorities to secure their return.

On economic ties, Abdelatty urged the inclusion of Egypt as a destination for upcoming Belgian economic missions.

He reviewed Egypt's recent structural reforms, noting that the domestic market offers attractive incentives for Belgian companies looking to leverage EU-backed investment guarantees.

Abdelatty lauded Belgium's supportive stance toward Egypt within the European Union, expressing Cairo's desire to deepen joint investment, trade, education, and healthcare initiatives in the coming period.
