CAIRO - 15 June 2026: As the Islamic New Year approaches, millions of workers begin searching for their holiday dates.
 
The Ministry of Labor has finalized the holiday dates for private sector employees, announcing that Thursday, June 18, 2026, will be an official paid holiday, in line with the government's initiative to standardize official holidays across all sectors.
 
Minister of Labor Hassan Radad announced that Thursday, June 18, 2026, will be an official paid holiday for private sector employees, marking the Islamic New Year 1448 AH.
 
 
Islamic New Year Holiday
 
The Minister explained that the Ministry issued Circular No. (16) of 2026 regarding granting this holiday to private sector employees. He emphasized that employers have the right to require employees to work on this day if work circumstances necessitate it.
 
In such cases, the employee is entitled to double their regular pay for that day, or to be granted another day off in lieu of work, in accordance with the provisions of the Labor Law.
