CAIRO – 23 May 2026: The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced the continuation of the nationwide livestock vaccination campaign against Foot-and-Mouth Disease and Rift Valley Fever, which began on April 28 and is being implemented by the General Authority for Veterinary Services.

According to the ministry, a total of 5,840,800 vaccine doses have been administered so far across villages and districts nationwide.

The campaign comes within the framework of directives issued by Alaa Farouk, who emphasized the importance of intensifying preventive measures to protect livestock from epidemic diseases in support of food security and sustainable development goals.

Field vaccination teams continue to carry out the campaign efficiently and regularly across all governorates.

According to an official report submitted to the minister by Hamed Al-Aqnas, the total number of livestock vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease has reached 3,135,575 animals, while 2,705,225 animals have been vaccinated against Rift Valley fever.

The report noted that vaccination, animal tagging, and registration operations are continuing alongside awareness and outreach campaigns across the governorates.

Dr. Al-Aqnas stated that the General Authority for Veterinary Services has supplied approved veterinary vaccines and provided full technical support to veterinary teams to ensure that vaccination services reach livestock breeders in villages and hamlets throughout the country, particularly in underserved and border areas.

He stressed that the national campaign forms part of the state’s broader strategy to preserve livestock resources and limit the spread of epidemic diseases. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between livestock breeders and veterinary committees, including the prompt reporting of suspected cases to strengthen disease prevention and control efforts.

The authority called on all livestock breeders to continue cooperating with veterinary teams by allowing routine vaccinations and registration procedures in order to protect animal health, improve productivity, and support the development of Egypt’s livestock sector.

For inquiries or to report suspected cases, the ministry urged citizens to contact the General Authority for Veterinary Services hotline at 19561.
