CAIRO – 13 May 2026: Damietta Port received the giant bulk carrier YANG FAN with a total cargo load of around 144,780 tons, marking the largest bulk cargo shipment ever received at the port since its establishment.
The vessel, sailing under the Panamanian flag, arrived from Singapore carrying a shipment of slag imported from China.
The vessel is considered one of the largest bulk cargo carriers, measuring 289 meters in length and 45 meters in width, with a draft of 16 meters.
Cargo unloading operations are set to be carried out using advanced equipment operated by SESCO Trans for developed logistics, in coordination with the port authority and relevant entities, the Ministry of Transport said.
The ministry said the vessel’s arrival reflects the efficiency of Damietta Port’s infrastructure and the port’s ability to safely accommodate deep-draft vessels in line with international maritime standards.
The ministry highlighted comprehensive development plans implemented at the port in recent years. These included deepening the navigation channel, increasing berth depths, modernizing maritime services, and enhancing operational efficiency and cargo handling capacity.
