CAIRO - 27 April 2026: An earthquake measuring 4.56 on the Richter scale struck 400 kilometers north of Marsa Matrouh on Monday.
The National Seismic Network recorded the earthquake, which occurred 400 kilometers north of Marsa Matrouh.
Dr. Sherif El-Hadi, head of the National Seismic Network, affiliated with the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, revealed details of the earthquake, noting that its epicenter was located 1.5 kilometers north of Marsa Matrouh.
Dr. El-Hadi explained that the earthquake was of moderate magnitude and was not felt due to its epicenter being at least 400 kilometers from the Egyptian border.
He added that the earthquake was 705 kilometers from Cairo and was not felt in Matrouh, Alexandria, or Cairo, reassuring citizens: there is no need to worry.
