CAIRO – 11 April 2026: Egypt has moved from the medium to the low category in the 2026 Global Terrorism Index (GTI), issued by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP).
The report ranked Egypt 32nd globally in 2026, an improvement from 29th place in 2025, reflecting a continued decline in terrorism-related activity and its overall impact in the country.
The GTI evaluates 163 countries based on four key indicators, including the number of terrorist incidents, as well as fatalities, injuries, and hostages resulting from such attacks in a given year.
