More than 2.1 million livestock vaccinated against lumpy skin disease and sheep pox

CAIRO – 8 April 2026: Egypt has vaccinated more than 2.1 million head of livestock against Lumpy Skin Disease and sheep and goat pox nationwide, ahead of Eid al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice).

 

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation launched a nationwide vaccination campaign on March 28, 2026, through the General Authority for Veterinary Services, as part of the state’s efforts to protect livestock and support animal health.

 

According to the Ministry, the total number of vaccinated animals has reached approximately 2,161,667 head across the country. This includes 1,467,519 head of cattle vaccinated against lumpy skin disease, and 694,148 sheep and goats vaccinated against sheep pox.

 

The Ministry added that the epidemiological situation remains stable, reflecting the effectiveness of preventive measures and proactive vaccination efforts.
