CAIRO - 7 April 2026: The city of Saint Catherine in South Sinai Governorate witnessed a large influx of tourists of various nationalities on Tuesday, to visit the city's religious sites, spiritual landmarks, and natural attractions.
Visitors of Multiple Nationalities
Ibrahim Mohamed El-Baz, the Public Relations Officer for Saint Catherine, stated that the city welcomed 510 tourists and visitors, including 35 Egyptians and foreign tourists from several countries, namely Russia, Brazil, Italy, the UAE, Germany, Thailand, and citizens of the occupied territories of Palestine.
Watching the Sunrise from the Mountain Peaks
The Public Relations Officer added that 295 tourists and 29 Egyptians climbed Mount Sinai to witness the sunrise from its summit, while 211 tourists and 2 Egyptians visited Saint Catherine's Monastery and its religious sites.
Mountain Hiking
The city experienced a significant drop in temperatures today, with a high of 17 degrees Celsius during the day and a low of 11 degrees at night, accompanied by frost on the mountain peaks. Despite the frigid weather, the city continues to welcome increasing numbers of tourists eager to experience mountain climbing on foot or on camelback.
Exploring the Colored Canyons and Saint Catherine's Reserve
The Public Relations Director of Saint Catherine's City explained that tourists explored the Colored Canyons and Saint Catherine's Reserve, visited the Wadi Al-Raahah rest area, learned about Bedouin life, visited camping areas, and purchased medicinal herbs as well as Sinai and Bedouin handicrafts.
