CAIRO – 3 April 2026: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, along with officials and employees of the ministry, mourned the death of Engineer Hossam Sadek Khalifa, Assistant General Manager of Quality at Petrojet’s UAE branch, who was killed in Abu Dhabi amid the ongoing regional conflict.
Khalifa was killed while performing his duties at the company’s site in Habshan, Abu Dhabi, during evacuation operations following two fires caused by falling debris from an interception by UAE air defenses.
The incident also resulted in minor injuries to four others, including two Egyptian employees: Yasser Gomaa Ahmed Abdel Salam, a laboratory supervisor, and Mohamed Ibrahim Ali Abdel Rahman, a civil quality control engineer. They received necessary medical treatment and were later discharged from hospital.
The ongoing conflict involves Iran and its allies- including Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Houthis, and several Iraqi armed groups- against opposing forces including the United States and Israel. Iran has carried out strikes targeting U.S. military bases and oil refineries in Gulf states, in response to attacks launched from U.S. bases in the region.
