FM says Russian projects in Egypt demonstrate strength of strategic relations

CAIRO – 3 April 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty expressed Egypt's appreciation for its long-standing historical ties with Russia, emphasizing that the relationship is built on solid strategic foundations that serve the mutual interests of both nations.

The Foreign Minister affirmed that the major Russian projects currently underway in Egypt clearly demonstrate the strength of the bilateral relationship. He specifically cited the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant as a historic milestone that bolsters energy security and enhances Egypt's long-term technological capabilities.

During a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Abdelatty added that Egyptian-Russian relations have gained significant momentum in recent years, reflected in the expansion of joint cooperation and the proliferation of strategic projects.

The Foreign Minister explained that Egypt attaches great importance to the progress of the Russian Industrial Zone (RIZ) project. He expressed Cairo's aspiration for the zone to become a global manufacturing and export hub, leveraging Egypt's strategic geographical location to meet the needs of neighboring markets and support joint industrial ventures.

Minister Abdelatty concluded his remarks by highlighting Egypt’s appreciation for Russian tourism. He stressed the importance of strengthening air links between the two countries to further support the tourism sector and increase both people-to-people and economic exchange.
