CAIRO – 2 April 2026: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Ambassador Alaa Youssef following President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's decree appointing him as the Head of the State Information Service (SIS) and the announcement of the organization's new board of directors.
At the start of the meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated Ambassador Youssef on assuming leadership of the SIS during this critical period. Madbouly emphasized that the selection was based on the Ambassador's high competence and extensive diplomatic experience, as well as his distinguished background as a former official spokesperson.
The Prime Minister noted that this leadership transition offers a favorable opportunity to project a positive image of Egypt in international and regional forums. He stressed the importance of conveying the Egyptian position on regional issues to the global public using documented facts to correct misconceptions, particularly amidst current regional tensions.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate the members of the SIS Board of Directors as well,” Prime Minister Madbouly stated. “The board comprises prominent media, journalistic, and intellectual figures whose wealth of experience will enable the Service to fulfill its mission of analyzing local and international public opinion. This includes enlightening local citizens through direct communication and informing the global community through diverse media channels.”
Madbouly expressed his confidence that the board would coordinate effectively with relevant state bodies and media institutions abroad to achieve the Service’s strategic goals.
Ambassador Alaa Youssef expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister, noting the importance of the meeting in defining the SIS’s role in implementing media programs aimed at a global audience. He explained that these programs seek to clarify the Egyptian state’s objectives, highlight national development and progress, and counter negative propaganda or rumors.
The new SIS head affirmed that the board will build upon previous successes, exerting further effort to clarify Egypt's vision during this era of significant geopolitical change and global tension.
