SANAA – 28 March 2026: Yemen’s Houthis said they launched a second strike on Israel late Saturday, hours after their first attack marked the group’s formal entry into the Iran war.
The group said it fired a barrage of cruise missiles and drones targeting “several vital and military [Israeli] sites” in the southern occupied Palestinian territories.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the operations come as part of the group’s continued support for Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon, as well as Palestine and Iraq.
Saree claimed the two strikes “successfully achieved their objectives.”
Israel’s military, however, said after the first attack that it intercepted all incoming attacks and is “preparing for a multifront war.”
While previous Houthi attacks on Israel have largely been intercepted with limited impact, concerns are mounting that the group could again target Red Sea shipping routes.
The Houthis did not reference shipping in their latest statements but said operations would continue until their demands are met, including a US-Israeli response to diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war in Iran.
