Sisi reviews Damietta Port development, Cairo road upgrades

CAIRO - 18 March 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reviewed progress on Damietta Port development in the Delta, and ongoing infrastructure projects during a Wednesday meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir.

In a Wednesday statement, presidency spokesperson Mohamed el-Shennawy said the president followed up on the executive status of the 116-kilometer Greater Cairo Ring Road expansion. The meeting also addressed maintenance and widening works for the October 6 Bridge to accommodate increasing traffic volumes.

The transport minister also detailed efforts to expand the sustainable green transport network, highlighting progress on the second phase of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
