CAIRO - 14 MARCH 2026: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty received a phone call from Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, as the two discussed the rapidly developing situation in Lebanon and the latest military escalation, according to Egypt’s Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said the call focused on what he described as repeated Israeli attacks and ground incursions into Lebanese territory. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s “full condemnation” and “categorical rejection” of any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. He said the actions constitute a clear breach of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s support for Lebanese state institutions as they work to extend authority across all Lebanese territory. He also called for an immediate halt to Israeli violations to create conditions for negotiations that can deliver tangible results on the ground and help lock in de-escalation.

Khallaf said Salam briefed Abdelatty on Lebanon’s urgent needs in dealing with a displacement crisis under harsh humanitarian conditions.

Abdelatty said he was acting on President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to respond to those needs and provide necessary assistance to support the Lebanese people and ease the strain of the current crisis and internal displacement.

The Lebanese prime minister, the spokesperson added, expressed Lebanon’s appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance at a sensitive moment for the country.
