CAIRO – 23 February 2025: Egypt is feeling the chill this week as a cold wave sweeps across the country, bringing brisk days and bone-chilling nights. Cairo, the North Coast, and northern Upper Egypt are all experiencing this cold spell.

The good news is that temperatures are expected to rise by 1-2 degrees Celsius by the weekend, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority’s (EMA) expectations.

The North Coast, home to the lovely Alexandria, is not just cold but also bracing for some light to moderate rain on Sunday and Monday.

This precipitation could extend to the northern parts of the Nile Delta, so keep your umbrellas handy.

The Mediterranean and Red Sea coasts will also see high waves ranging from 2-3 meters, along with strong winds blowing at 40-60 km/hour.

As for temperatures, Cairo and the Nile Delta will experience highs of 16-17°C and lows of 9-10°C until Wednesday.

The North Coast is looking at highs of around 15-17°C and lows around 10°C.

In northern Upper Egypt, expect highs of about 18°C and lows of 6°C, while southern Upper Egypt will be warmer, with highs around 23°C and lows of 9-11°C.

If you're dreaming of a sunny getaway, South Sinai is still enjoying pleasant weather, with highs of 20°C and lows of 13°C on Sunday. It could be the perfect time for a refreshing escape.
