CAIRO – 14 February 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim have emphasized their firm rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their lands so as to not liquidate the Palestinian cause.

During a phone call on Friday, Sisi and Ibrahim discussed Egypt's efforts to implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip in cooperation with Qatar and the United States.

The conversation also highlighted Egypt’s endeavors to deliver humanitarian aid to the Strip to address the humanitarian crisis facing the people of Gaza.

The Malaysian prime minister praised Egypt's tireless efforts to support the Palestinian people, stop the bloodshed, and restore calm to the region.

Meanwhile, both leaders affirmed the need to intensify international efforts to establish the Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

They stressed that this objective is the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the region and ensuring stability and prosperity for its peoples.

Gaza is currently witnessing a relative calm under a ceasefire, brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the US, which has halted over 15 months of brutal Israeli war that devastated the enclave and resulted in the deaths of more than 48,000 Palestinians.

Since the ceasefire took effect on January 19, Israel and Hamas have exchanged a total of 766 Palestinian prisoners and 21 captives held by Hamas in Gaza since October 2023—16 Israelis and 5 Thai nationals—through five prisoner swaps.

On Saturday, Hamas and Israel are set to implement the sixth swap amid intensified efforts by Egypt and Qatar to prevent the collapse of the agreement and the resurgence of war.

The ceasefire has also facilitated a significant increase in humanitarian aid, with more than 10,000 aid trucks entering Gaza since the ceasefire began, according to the United Nations humanitarian chief on February 6.

Additionally, since early February, Egypt has received 12,000 wounded and sick Gazans, including 2,500 children, as reported by North Sinai Governor Khaled Megawer on Thursday.
