FM participates in banquet hosted by French FM ahead of Paris meeting on Syria

CAIRO – 13 February 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty participated on Thursday in an official banquet hosted by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot ahead of a meeting of the foreign ministers of a number of Arab and Western countries on Syria in the French capital Paris.

Abdelatty arrived in Paris earlier in the day to attend a ministerial meeting called by the French government to discuss the situation in Syria.

The meeting is part of broader regional and international efforts to support a comprehensive political process that guarantees the preservation of Syria's stability, unity, and sovereignty and meets the aspirations of the Syrian people.

Abdelatty reiterated the Egyptian position, which is calling for respecting the unity, safety of Syria and the country's sovereignty and its territorial integrity.

The Egyptian stance is also calling for launching a comprehensive political process with the participation of all components of the Syrian society and in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

He said Egypt is standing by the Syrian people and backing their legitimate aspirations.

The foreign minister tackled constants of the Egyptian, Arab and Islamic stand regarding the Palestinian cause and the importance of achieving the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, topped by their right to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

In this regard, he highlighted Egypt's efforts with Qatar and the US to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire and the full implementation of the three-stage deal along with the delivery of the humanitarian assistance.

Abdelatty pointed out to the early recovery and reconstruction plan in the Gaza Strip that is now being devised without the displacement of Palestinians from their land.
