Egyptian FM attends opening session of 46th Ordinary Session of AU Executive Council in Addis Ababa

CAIRO – 12 February 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty attended Wednesday the opening session of the 46th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council held in Addis Ababa in preparation for the AU Summit taking place on February 15-16.

Minister Abdelatty headed to the Ethiopian capital Tuesday after concluding his visit to Washington that had begun Sunday, where he met the secretary of state, national security advisor, special envoy to the Middle East, as well as members of the House of Representatives and senators. 

The talks were mainly focused on ensuring a long-term ceasefire in Gaza Strip, reconstruction without displacement of Palestinians, and political process that would result in the two-state solution. In some of the meetings, the minister brought up the unrest in Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Lebanon, and the Red Sea.
