CAIRO – 12 February 2025: Engineer Tarek El-Nabarawy, head of the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate, ordered on Tuesday the formation of a specialized advisory committee comprised of experts focused on the reconstruction of Gaza.
The committee's mandate includes developing a comprehensive strategy for reconstruction based on international standards in planning, engineering, and execution, ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness in the rebuilding process.
Additionally, the committee will explore opportunities for expanding Egypt's role in reconstruction, considering the potential interest of various international and regional parties in participating in the rebuilding efforts.
The syndicate’s directives come while Egypt said on Tuesday that it plans to present a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, ensuring that the Palestinian people remain on their land in accordance with their legitimate and legal rights.
The Egyptian statements were made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as US President Donald Trump has doubled down on his proposal to take control of the Gaza Strip and displace its residents.
Trump on Tuesday reiterated his proposal for Egypt and Jordan to take in Palestinians after removing from Gaza, a plan that both Arab countries repeatedly rejected.
“I believe we’ll have a parcel of land in Jordan. I believe we’ll have a parcel of land in Egypt,” Trump said.
Trump reaffirmed his plans to “take” Gaza in remarks to the press while sitting with King Abdullah II of Jordan in the Oval Office on the same day.
“We’re going to take it. We’re going to hold it. We’re going to cherish it. We’re going to get it going eventually, where a lot of jobs are going to be created for the people in the Middle East,” Trump stated, claiming that his plan will “bring peace” to the region.
AlQahera News quoted Egyptian sources on Tuesday as emphasizing that Egypt rejects any proposal to allocate land for Gaza residents or displace Palestinians from their lands and resettle them elsewhere.
Egypt emphasized that any solutions to the crisis must ensure that the residents of the Gaza Strip remain on their land, expressing displeasure with recent statements made by Israeli and American officials regarding the Palestinian cause.
