CAIRO – 7 February 2025: The new Speaker of the Irish Parliament, Verona Murphy, praised on Friday the Egyptian efforts made for the Palestinian cause and stopping the war in Gaza.
During a meeting held between the Irish Parliament speaker and Ambassador Mohamed Tharwat Selim, Egypt's Ambassador to Dublin, Murphy expressed appreciation for Egypt's important role in the region.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in light of Egypt’s President visit to Dublin in December 2024 and what was agreed upon during the visit regarding the importance of raising relations between the two sides to the level of strategic partnership.
Ambassador Selim presented the latest developments in the ongoing contacts between the two countries in order to complete an agreement for the transfer of trained workers and vocational training from Egypt to Ireland, especially since this agreement is a continuation of the successful experience of the Egyptian community in Ireland.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to continue consultations between the two sides in order to advance bilateral relations between the two countries.
