CAIRO – 25 July 2017: The economic reform decisions were ‘Inevitable,’ according to President Abdel Fatah al- Sisi on the second day of the 4th National Youth Conference in Alexandria, Tuesday.

“These decisions were our only way to regain our deserved-place on the world’s map. We had to face our problems seriously in order to take further steps forward.” Sisi said, adding that, “Given the number of our population, huge developments will take place after applying all the reform measures needed.”

Commenting on ministers’ discussions during the Youth Conference, Sisi called, in his speech, on Egyptians to be “more patient.”

“I won’t say that the past regimes didn’t take the right or the needed measures earlier; because all of you contributed, in one way or another, to intimidating them from taking such hard steps,” Sisi added.

Monday morning, President Sisi inaugurated the 4th National Youth Conference in Alexandria. Around 1,500 youth attended the conference, along with parliamentarians, heads of unions and universities, journalists, public figures, and representatives of the National Council for Women and the National Council for Human Rights.

Economic expert, Shrief Delawar said in his speech to the conference that most of the economic reform procedures taken recently should’ve been taken earlier. “Everything could’ve been different if our economic system was proactive, rather than a consumption economy.”
