President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi meets with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, Dec. 29, 2024 – Presidency
CAIRO – 29 December 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has urged improving coverage and quality of communications and internet services to meet citizens' needs for high-quality and effective services.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat on Sunday, Sisi directed continued efforts to expand telecommunications services throughout the nation and ensure high-quality service delivery.
The president also instructed taking all measures to encourage local and international investment in communications and information technology, and intensify efforts to enhance Egypt's position in global communications sector indicators.
These endeavors aim to solidify Egypt's role as a regional hub for communications, digital activities, and information technology services.
During the meeting, Sisi was briefed on the efforts to implement Egypt's digital strategy, which aims to develop the outsourcing industry and encourage global companies to expand their activities in Egypt.
The president was also informed about the upcoming launch of the second version of the Egypt National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, which will focus on continued employment of AI technologies to address societal challenges across various fields.
The strategy will also enhance advanced computing infrastructure for government and private entities, as well as start-ups and small to medium-sized companies operating in this sector, supporting national economic development programs.
The meeting also reviewed projects undertaken by the ministry in digital transformation, the strategy for developing national post offices, and efforts to expand mobile phone manufacturing and localize the industry.
Sisi directed continued progress toward transformation into an integrated digital society, which includes providing digital services, data governance, and expanding training and building digital capabilities through applied technology schools and Creativa Innovation Hubs to prepare young people for job opportunities.
The president emphasized the importance of supporting programs related to data protection, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.
He stressed the need to attract more specialized international centers to operate in Egypt in research and development fields as well as various disciplines in the communications and information technology sector.
