CAIRO – 28 December 2024: As part of his official visit to Gabon, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Badr Abdelatty participated on Friday, December 27, in the Egyptian-Gabonese Business Forum held in the capital, Libreville. 

 

The forum was attended by Oligui Nguema, the President of Gabon, along with seven ministers from the Gabonese government: the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Public Works, Energy and Water Resources, Health, Economy, Digital Economy, and Transport. 

 

The event also saw the participation of a select group of Egyptian and Gabonese businesspeople and investors.

 

In his speech, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of the forum as a platform to enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and Gabon. He reaffirmed the directives of the Egyptian President to drive bilateral relations to new heights by expanding trade exchange and increasing joint investments. 

 

He also highlighted Egypt's readiness to engage in the Gabonese market and support comprehensive development plans by offering its expertise in various sectors, particularly in infrastructure, energy, construction, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture, which would contribute to achieving sustainable development.

 

The Foreign Minister shed light on the pivotal role that both public and private sector companies play in supporting development in Africa, noting that Egyptian investments in the African continent have exceeded $14 billion. He also highlighted the excellent reputation of Egyptian companies for delivering projects in record time and at competitive prices.

 

The forum included extensive discussions between ministers, Gabonese investors, businesspeople, and representatives of Egyptian companies on enhancing economic and investment partnerships between the two countries. 

 

The Egyptian delegation presented proposals for development projects that could be implemented in collaboration with Gabon, particularly in the areas of road construction, port development, and renewable energy. 

 

The forum also addressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the agricultural sector to achieve food security, as well as exchanging expertise in technology and manufacturing.
