CAIRO – 13 December 2024: Badr Abdel-Aty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, met with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, during a bilateral visit to Beijing on Friday, December 13, 2024.

 

Minister Abdel-Aty emphasized the strategic nature of Egypt’s relationship with China, highlighting the importance of leveraging momentum from regular presidential meetings.

 

These include the Egyptian president's visit to Beijing in May 2024, where he participated as a guest of honor in the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum. The two nations’ deep ties are further reflected in high-level exchanges and interparty visits, showcasing vibrant and robust interactions.

 

The foreign minister praised joint ventures, particularly Chinese involvement in constructing the Business and Financial District in Egypt's New Administrative Capital. He also highlighted Chinese investments in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Egypt remains committed to adopting advanced technologies, localizing industries, and expanding investment in promising sectors such as renewable energy and green hydrogen.

 

The discussions also delved into pressing regional developments. Minister Abdel-Aty provided updates on the situation in the Middle East, including the crisis in Gaza and Egypt’s active efforts to broker an immediate ceasefire. He also addressed the evolving situation in Syria, underscoring Egypt's focus on maintaining regional security and stability.

 

The meeting reaffirmed Egypt and China’s shared commitment to fostering mutual cooperation across political, economic, and strategic domains. The dialogue underscored both nations' roles in navigating complex regional challenges while building a framework for sustained development and partnership.
