CAIRO – 28 November 2024: During his visit to Cairo, Djibouti Parliament Speaker Dileita Mohamed Dileita met Wednesday with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty to discuss bolstering bilateral relations.

Further, they exchanged views on regional issues of joint concern, especially those pertaining to the Horn of Africa. In that framework, Dileita and Abdelatty stressed the importance of maintaining dialogue and consultation in order to fulfill joint interests and reinforce stability and security in the region.

Minister Abdel Aty met earlier in November with his Djiboutian counterpart Mahmoud Ali Youssef on the sidelines of the Ministerial Preparatory Meeting on the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh.

The minister expressed Egypt's keenness on bolstering ties with Djibouti on the political and economic levels, building upon the growth in relations in the past years, which was manifested in the call between the two presidents on October 30 as there was congruence on continuous consultations.

Both ministers agreed on expanding cooperation in the economic, trade, and logistics fields, as well as facilitating partnerships among the private sector in Egypt and Djibouti.

The meeting equally included exchange of views on regional affairs, precisely updates pertaining to the Horn of Africa and Red Sea. In that regard, the Egyptian and Djiboutian ministers stressed the salience of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, as well as preserving the freedom of international navigation.

They similarly agreed on consolidating coordination at the African Union (AU) and the Arab League (AL).
