CAIRO - 1 October 2024: Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, said that the health sector is a promising area for investment between Egypt and France, on the sidelines of his participation in the Egyptian-French Business Forum currently being held in France.
 
The forum aims to strengthen economic relations between the two countries and explore new investment opportunities in many areas of common interest.
 
Abdel Ghaffar pointed out - in statements to the Middle East News Agency (MENA) in Paris - that there are many areas in the health sector that open up horizons for bilateral cooperation, as the health sector is a promising area for investment between Egypt and France.
 
He continued, "We are present today at the Egyptian-French Business Forum to promote the idea of ​​France investing through businessmen in the health sector in Egypt, in addition to the fields of medicine and vaccines, as there is great cooperation between the two countries in the fields of medicine manufacturing through large French companies that have been operating in Egypt for a long time."
 
He said that the Egyptian-French partnership in the health sector has a long and distinguished history, and France is well aware of the Egyptian professional capabilities in terms of doctors and nurses, as there are many Egyptian doctors worldwide who are famous for their efficiency.
 
He pointed out that "there are also well-established companies in Egyptian society, so it is easy to market the idea of ​​investing in Egypt with the presence of new policies, and we are here today and we hope that with the end of this forum and with the next forum next May in Cairo, there will be many procedures through businessmen from the two countries in all fields."
 
He stressed the importance of investing in the health sector, explaining that the Egyptian state is witnessing a large population growth, with birth rates reaching two million individuals annually; which requires a very large infrastructure and the health sector is part of this infrastructure that requires a number of hospitals and health services.
 
In this regard, he pointed out the importance of supporting the private sector and being a basic partner with the Ministry of Health, in addition to the comprehensive health insurance system that the state is working on.
 
The minister explained that the Egyptian state has been keen in the recent period to support foreign and domestic investment as well, through a number of policy reforms to attract investment. He also stressed that the Egyptian government has worked for several years to adopt new legislation and support policies that stimulate investment in various fields, including new and renewable energy, roads, transportation, health and infrastructure.
 
He highlighted the depth of bilateral relations between Egypt and France, represented in the joint commitment to confront adversity, especially during various challenges such as: the Corona pandemic. 
 
On Monday, the activities of the Egyptian-French Business Forum began in Paris, which is organized by the "Business France" agency in coordination with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Egypt, to promote joint investments and attract more French investments to the Egyptian market.
 
This forum, which continues on Tuesday in Marseille, is a promising opportunity for the two countries. It is also an opportunity for Egypt to attract more investments to the Egyptian market, France, which is already a major economic partner of Egypt, sees this forum as a means to support French companies in their development at the international level.
