President Sisi extends Mawlid greetings to Egyptians abroad

CAIRO – 12 September 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has extended greetings to the Egyptian Muslim communities abroad ahead of the anniversary of Al-Mawlid Al-Nabawi (Prophet Muhammad's birthday)

In a congratulatory message conveyed through Egypt's embassies and consulates abroad Sisi wished the Muslim communities abroad continuous success and that the nation witness further development and prosperity.

“My brothers and sons, Egyptian Muslims abroad, it gives me great pleasure to extend to you my sincerest congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of the birth anniversary of our noble Prophet, Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him,” the president said in his message.

The Mawlid is celebrated by many Muslims on 12th of Rabie Al-Awwal, since the Abbasids and the Fatimids. The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) previously announced the Mawlid to fall this year on Sunday, 15 September.

The Egyptian government has designated next Sunday an official paid holiday to celebrate the Mawlid.

The holiday applied for employees in ministries, government agencies, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, public business sector companies, and private sector companies.
