CAIRO - 4 July 2024: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a phone call to former Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, expressing gratitude for his continuous leadership and close friendship over the years.

 

Blinken acknowledged Shoukry's significant role in strengthening the robust partnership between the United States and Egypt, which has been crucial in addressing regional and global challenges and enhancing relations between the American and Egyptian peoples.

 

The US Embassy in Cairo, in a statement on Thursday, quoted US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller, who said, "Sameh Shoukry has been a pioneer in multilateral efforts to de-escalate conflicts and advocate for sustainable solutions."

 

 

The acknowledgment from Blinken and the US Embassy underscores the importance of Egypt's diplomatic contributions to peace and stability in the region, highlighting the enduring partnership between the two nations.
