CAIRO - 2 July 2024: Sources have revealed to "Youm7" that Ambassador Badr Abdel Aaty will be appointed as the Foreign Minister in Mostafa Madbouly's new government, with the Ministry of Immigration now incorporated into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

Ambassador Badr Abdel Aaty’s Diplomatic Career

 

Badr Abdel Aaty currently serves as Egypt’s Ambassador to Brussels, where he has significantly contributed to the development of bilateral relations between Cairo and EU countries over the past years. His efforts in enhancing economic and trade cooperation have led to the European Union investing billions of dollars in recent times.

 

From 2015 to 2019, Abdel Aaty served as Egypt’s Ambassador to Germany, playing a pivotal role in advancing Egyptian-German relations and fostering joint cooperation across various fields during the tenure of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

 

Previous Roles and Contributions

 

Abdel Aaty has held several key positions, including:

 

Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Director of Public Diplomacy from 2013 to 2015.

 

Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for European Union and Western Europe Affairs, and National Coordinator for the Union for the Mediterranean from 2012 to 2013.

 

Deputy Chief of Mission at the Egyptian Embassy in Brussels from 2008 to 2012.Director of Palestinian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2008.

 

Counselor at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington, responsible for Congress and African affairs from 2003 to 2007.

 

First Secretary in the Office of the Foreign Minister, handling African affairs and the Middle East peace process from 2001 to 2003.
