CAIRO – 26 April 2024: In light of Egypt’s efforts to solve the Libyan crisis based on an inter-Libyan consensus, the Head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Major General Abbas Kamel will meet with Aguila Saleh, the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, on Friday in Cairo.

The two leaders will address the latest developments in Libya and efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis.

The meeting will convene in light of Egypt's support for all comprehensive settlement paths based on Libyan legitimate institutions.

In March, Egypt welcomed a meeting of key Libyan institutional stakeholders, namely the head of Libya's Presidential Council, House of Representatives speaker and head of Libya's High State Council, by the Arab League (AL).

The meeting, held in Cairo, was meant to support a Libyan-led and owned political solution alongside reinforcing the role of Libyan institutions in ensuring the constitutional and legal framework for holding presidential and parliamentary elections shortly.

The outcomes of the meeting represent key steps on the right track towards fulfilling the legitimate aspirations of the Libyan people, in a way that preserves Libya's sovereignty, unity, security and stability, according to a statement issued by Egypt's Foreign Ministry.
