CAIRO – 23 April 2024: The Suez Canal Authority announced Tuesday that its marine rescue units had saved a cargo ship named 'Labatros' – which had 12 crew members on board - from capsizing off the shores of Port Said before crossing the waterway within the northern convoy heading from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea.

The rescue was carried out by the tugboats named 'Port Said' and 'Mosaheb' as well as the boat 'Bahar 10.' Currently, the authority is assessing the technical reasons behind the ship's tilting to the right side, and if there is any pollution incurred by the incident.

Labatros' dimensions are 94 meters in length, 15 meters in width, six meters in draft, and 3,000 tons in capacity. The ship raising the Tanzanian flag was on its way from Lebanon to Egypt's Adabeya Port.
