CAIRO – 13 April 2024: Hamas movement says that it recently handed over to the mediators in Egypt and Qatar its response to the proposal it received last Monday.

The movement added that it still adheres to reaching a permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from the entire Gaza Strip, the return of the displaced to their areas and places of residence, intensification of the entry of relief and aid, and the start of reconstruction.

The movement continued that it ready to conclude a serious and real exchange of prisoners between the two parties.

Last Monday, a high-level Egyptian source confirmed that the Cairo discussions have shown an agreement on the basic principles between all parties regarding the ceasefire, hostages swap deal in the Gaza Strip according to al Qahera news channel.

The source added that the delegations of Qatar and Hamas left Cairo on Sunday night and will return within two days to agree on the terms of the final agreement.

The source explained, that Egypt is making every effort to reach a truce agreement in Gaza, noting that there is noticeable progress in consensus on many controversial points.

In recent weeks, Cairo, along with Doha and Paris, has hosted multiple rounds of talks with mediators attempting to broker an agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Efforts to secure a truce before Ramadan were unsuccessful, and even after Eid Al-Fitr, no agreement has been reached to halt or at least pause the six months of Israeli aggression in the strip.

Israel has disregarded global calls for a cessation of the conflict in Gaza, despite a UN Security Council resolution passed in late March, which demanded an immediate ceasefire during Ramadan.

The Israeli war since October 7 has resulted in over 33,000 fatalities, nearly 76,000 injuries, and extensive damage to Gaza's infrastructure.
