CAIRO – 8 April 2024: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi congratulated Muslims of Egypt abroad on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

In a congratulatory cable conveyed by Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad to the Egyptian expatriate communities through their social media pages on Monday, President Sisi said, "My brothers and sons, Muslims of Egypt abroad, it brings me great pleasure to extend to you my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, praying to Allah Almighty to make it a happy and blessed Eid, and to repeat it for you with goodness, blessings, and prosperity. I wish you success and prosperity, and for our beloved Egypt and its great people, further progress and prosperity. Wishing you all the best. Happy Eid.”

Employees in both the public and private sectors throughout Egypt will have a paid holiday from April 9-14 to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan in the Muslim calendar.

This year, Ramadan will conclude on Tuesday, April 9, based on astronomical calculations. Therefore, the festive celebrations of Eid Al-Fitr will then take place from Wednesday, April 10, to Friday, April 12.

Employees will resume work on Monday, April 15.

The paid holiday will be granted to employees working in ministries, government institutions, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, and public business sector companies, according to the decisions made by the Cabinet.

For employees in the private sector, Sunday, April 14, will be deducted from their annual holiday entitlement.

Make sure not to miss the Eid prayers, which will take place on Wednesday at around 6 AM.
