CAIRO – 5 April 2024: If you have any urgent banking matters to attend to, make sure to visit your bank before they close their doors for a six-day period starting Tuesday in all Egyptian governorates.

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has announced the closure of all banks nationwide from Tuesday, 9 April to Sunday, 14 April in observance of the Muslim Eid Al-Fitr feast.

Normal banking operations will resume on Monday morning, as confirmed by the CBE.

Likewise, the Cabinet has earlier declared a paid holiday for both public and private sector employees throughout Egypt from 9 to 14 April, in celebration of the Eid.

This joyous occasion marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan in the Muslim calendar.

According to astronomical calculations, Ramadan is expected to conclude this year on Tuesday.

Subsequently, the festive celebrations of Eid Al-Fitr will take place from Wednesday to Friday.

The paid holiday will be granted to employees working in ministries, government institutions, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, and public business sector companies, in accordance with the decisions made by the Cabinet.

For employees in the private sector, Sunday, April 14, will be deducted from their annual holiday entitlement.

The Eid prayers will be held on Wednesday around 6 AM.
