CAIRO – 30 March 2024: On the 48th anniversary of Land Day, the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said that Israeli authorities seized 27,000 dunums after October 7th incidents.

The Commission stated that nearly six months of the brutal Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, over 32,000 individuals, predominantly children and women, have been killed.

Moayed Shaaban, the commission's leader, highlighted that the occupying state initiated the creation of buffer zones around the settlements through a sequence of military directives.

Furthermore, he noted that following the occupation's aggression against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the planning authorities in the occupying state examined a total of 52 structural plans aimed at constructing 8,829 settlement units across 6,852 dunums of land.

He further explained that a "colonist militia" forcibly displaced 25 Palestinian Bedouin communities, comprising 220 families (1,277 individuals), from their homes to other locations. The most recent instance of this was the displacement of the Al-Sukhn community in the Central Jordan Valley, where terrorist settlers have seized control of the area.

March 30th marks the 48th anniversary of Land Day, an occasion that has evolved into a commemoration of Palestinian land and its defense since 1976. On this day, six citizens were martyred, 49 were wounded, and over 300 others were arrested.

On that day also, Israeli authorities confiscated approximately 2,000 dunams of land from several Palestinian villages in the Galilee region, including Arraba, Sakhnin, Deir Hanna, Arab Al-Sawaed, and others in 1976. This land seizure was intended for the expansion of settlements as part of the broader plan to Judaize the Galilee and displace its Arab population. In response, Palestinians, particularly those directly impacted, declared a general strike on March 30th.
