CAIRO - 5 March 2024: Counselor Mohamed Al-Homsani, spokesman for the Egyptian cabinet, said that the Egyptian state decided to choose an international consultant in the coming period to study and develop a vision and plan to offer management and operations of airports to the private sector.

The spokesperson for the Egyptian Cabinet said that the decision comes in light of Egypt’s keenness to properly manage its assets, increase their efficiency, and improve the service provided to beneficiaries and tourists.

He further added, in a telephone interview with the “Ninth” program with the journalist Youssef Al-Husseini, that the goal of the Egyptian state’s decision comes in light of the efforts made to accommodate the increase that the Egyptian state seeks to receive in the future, both in the number of travelers and tourists coming to the country.

The Cabinet spokesman added that many major countries follow the same pattern of private sector management and operation of airports in accordance with controls set by the state with the aim of improving service. "There are Arab countries that have been applying this matter for years," he added.

He ensured that “There is no sale of airports, but rather it is just the operation and management to be assigned to the private sector.”
