CAIRO - 17 February 2024: Issa Qaraqe, head of the Palestinian National Library, said that the library is considered the repository of the historical Palestinian cultural heritage throughout all eras and crises.

He added that manuscripts, documents, and everything written about Palestine's history have been collected and archived in the library.

Issa Qaraqe stated, during his interview with the “A House for All” TV program broadcast on the Egyptian Channel 1, that the Israeli occupation government is still destroying Palestinian monuments and all the historical Palestinian presence and cultural heritage, and has stolen many manuscripts, books and documents.

Issa Qaraqe stressed that Israel destroyed universities, offices, museums, popular markets, and the history of Gaza, explaining that what Israel is doing is "a policy to erase the Palestinian narrative and its history."

We restored the place and prepared the equipment, and cadres to work on the National Library project with international standards to preserve our history, culture, and thought, which are being stolen and obliterated by the occupation.

He explained that the National Library will host all the manuscripts, works and books it collects about Palestine's history, and will display them to the public and researchers.

He ensured that the library will receive everything related to Palestinian culture and artistic creativity, and they will be deposited in special places within the library.
