CAIRO – 15 February 2024: Egypt's permanent representative to African Union said on Thursday that Egypt has been elected to membership in the African Peace and Security Council (PSC) for two years.

The election comes for a two-year term 2024-2026, as Egypt obtained 44 votes out of 46 votes for the member states of the African Union who are entitled to vote.

This election reflects the confidence of sister African countries in Egypt’s capabilities in this vital file, which was evident in Egypt’s successive memberships in the African Peace and Security Council, the most recent of which was during the years 2020-2022.
