CAIRO –7 February 2024: Egypt’s First Lady Intisar al Sisi congratulated on Wednesday the Egyptian people and the Islamic nation on the occasion of the celebration of the ‘Isra and Mi'raj’ journey anniversary.

“I congratulate Egyptian people and the Islamic nation on the occasion of the celebration of the ‘Isra and Mi'raj’; That great divine miracle that God singled out for our honorable Prophet, calling on God Almighty to return this blessed night to us with goodness, right and blessings. Happy new year.” Egypt’s First Lady wrote on her Facebook account.

The ‘Israʾ and Miʿraj’ is a great miracle known in the Islamic religion that took place to Prophet Mohamed. The two-part word represents the two parts of a night journey that Muslims believe the Islamic prophet Muhammad took during a single night around.

During the Journey, it is believed that Prophet Mohamed traveled on a winged horse to Al-Aqsa Mosque, then ascended into heaven during ‘the Miʿraj’, where he individually greeted the prophets, and later spoke to God.

‘Isra’ means walking or traveling at night and ‘Miʿraj’ means rising, or going up to a high place.
