CAIRO – 24 December 2023: A delegation from Palestinian Gehad led by the movement’s Secretary General Zeyad Nakhala arrived in Egypt Sunday to discuss the conditions in Gaza Strip.
On December 11, a delegation of members of the Security Council visited the cities of Al-Arish and Rafah to learn about the huge humanitarian and medical operations carried out to support relief efforts targeted at Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The UN Security Council adopted on December 22 a resolution demanding immediate, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance at scale directly to the Palestinian civilian population throughout the Gaza Strip.
The UNSC resolution on Gaza was adopted with 13 votes in favor, and the US and Russia abstaining.
Egypt's representative to the Security Council, Ambassador Osama Abdel Khaleq said that what was happening in Gaza was a horrific humanitarian catastrophe
The diplomat added that although Egypt had been sharing food, medicine and clothing with the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war, the sector had been suffering from a horrific humanitarian crisis that has not occurred since the World War.
