Egypt looks forward to stronger partnership between Russia, Arab states: FM

CAIRO – 20 December 2023: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry expressed Egypt's appreciation for the historic and strategic ties with Russia, and their growth over decades in the political and economic realms as well as in those of trade, nuclear energy, food security, and military coordination among others.

The minister's statements came during the sixth session of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum held in Morocco's Marrakesh on Wednesday. He expressed confidence that the forum would play a significant role in consolidating the partnership between the Arab states and Russia, and devising joint stances on regional and international affairs of mutual interest.

Minister Shokry tackled the war in Gaza stressing the importance of an immediate ceasefire and delivery of humanitarian aid. He equally voiced ultimate refusal of the displacement of Palestinians, calling for countering Israeli practices aimed at that scenario and pushing forward the two-state solution.
