CAIRO – 19 November 2023: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Saturday the "horrific" Israeli shelling of UNRWA's Fakhoura School killing and injuring civilians "which adds to the series of violations against civilians."

The school was sheltering hundreds of displaced Palestinians, including women and children, so as the strike killed over 200 individuals. Hence, Egypt called for holding perpetrators accountable, and renewed its call for influential international players to protect civilians, and push for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.

Since October 7, around 1.5 million Palestinians have been internally displaced in Gaza, and taking shelter in UNRWA schools, hospitals, and churches. Also, some of them are living with host families.
