CAIRO – 29 October 2023: WHO Representative in Egypt Dr. Naeema Al-Gasseer stated in a phone-in later on Saturday that 64 percent of healthcare facilities in Gaza Strip had gone out of service and that seven major hospitals had received evacuation notice.

In its last situation report released on Friday, the UNRWA highlighted that eight out of its 22 health centers in Gaza are still operating in the Middle Area, Khan Younis, and Rafah, and that provided 3,950 patients with basic medical services on October 26. In addition, the organization has set up 95 mobile medical units and medical teams, which treated 9,900 individuals in shelters.

The UNRWA also declared that, since October 7, 53 of its staff had been killed, while 42 of its installations had been damaged. The report noted that 640,000 internally-displaced persons (IDPs) were sheltering in 150 UNRWA installations across the Gaza Strip.
