CAIRO – 28 October 2023: Expanding the scope of conflict between the Palestinians and Israelis will not be in the interest of the region, said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi during the inauguration of the 2nd edition of the annual international exhibition for industry on Saturday

He added that Egypt appreciated the UNGA resolution on ceasing fire and having a truce between Palestinians and Israelis. The UNGA adopted the Arab resolution after a total of 120 countries voted in favor of the decision, while only 14 countries voted against it and 45 other countries abstained.

“Egypt is keen to play a positive role in the Palestinian cause and is a strong country with inviolable sovereignty,” said President Sisi.

He continued that Egypt's foreign policy is not based on treachery and conspiracy, and we are keen on building our country.

On Friday, Gaza saw the heaviest bombardment since the start of the Israeli war on the strip on 7 October, accordint to Palestinian reports, with the Israeli army saying that its "ground forces are expanding" their operations in the Gaza Strip.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed last week the importance of working to prevent an Israeli ground invasion of the Gaza Strip, saying it would “claim scores of civilian lives.”

Egypt has called for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian truce in Gaza as more than 7,700 people (including more than 3,500 children) were killed, thousands more were injured and around 1.4 million were displaced.
