CAIRO - 19 OCtober 2023: Egypt's Parliament, represented by Counselor Ahmed Saad, the First Deputy of the Parliament, has issued an appeal to all world parliaments, urging them to adopt resolutions condemning Israeli violations in Palestinian territories. These resolutions are expected to ensure the protection of innocent civilians and adhere to international treaties and humanitarian norms.

This call to action came during an emergency session of Egypt's Parliament, held on Thursday and presided over by Saad. The session was dedicated to discussing the implications of the situation in Palestinian territories.

In his address, Saad conveyed the heartfelt condolences of all Egyptian MPs and the entire Egyptian population to the resilient Palestinian people. He invoked a prayer for patience and solace, beseeching the Almighty to grant it to them and to all of us. He concluded his speech with the words, "Long live a free Egypt... Long live the Arab world."

At the beginning of the emergency session, Saad mentioned that Hanafi Gebali, the President of the Parliament, was supposed to attend but was hindered by flight circumstances as he was participating in a parliamentary conference in Baghdad.

This session convened amidst overwhelming popular support for Egypt's political leadership stance against the Israeli aggression in Gaza. President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has adamantly opposed the forced displacement of Gaza's residents to the Sinai Peninsula and has insisted on keeping the Rafah border crossing closed to foreigners without the entry of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

In a related development, the Egyptian Senate, during its emergency session on Wednesday, authorized President El-Sisi to take any measures he deems necessary to protect Egypt's national security and support the Palestinian cause.
